order for required power outages ends for entergy louisiana and entergy new orleans

action taken as directed by miso

new orleans – entergy’s reliability coordinator, midcontinent independent system operator, has canceled its directive requiring power outages for some entergy louisiana and entergy new orleans customers. power has been restored to nearly all those affected by these outages.

the forced outages were directed by miso as a last resort, and done in order to prevent a more extensive, prolonged power outage that could severely affect the reliability of the power grid.

miso comprises a pool of electricity generators and users that stretches from canada to the gulf of mexico, and as reliability coordinator is responsible for monitoring the portion of the electric grid it oversees and providing instructions to its members regarding actions needed to maintain reliability in that portion of the grid. in extreme circumstances, such actions may include these types of outages currently occurring.
