entergy mississippi has restored service to customers who lost power during hurricane barry.

hurricane barry weakened as a tropical storm and is now a tropical depression that continues to move slowly causing numerous outages.  mississippi will have locally heavy thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes that will be possible through monday with the incoming rain bands. we are assessing damage and restoring service to our customers where it is safe to do so.

barry is now a hurricane, with its center nearing the louisiana coastline.  we continue to prepare for the possibility that this weather system may impact our region with severe thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains. 

as of 3 p.m. today, our louisiana workforce totals over 2,800, including over 2,000 line and vegetation workers onsite and en route.

according to the national hurricane center, tropical storm barry is expected to further develop over the northern gulf of mexico. although the latest projections indicate a central louisiana landfall, we continue to prepare for the possibility that this weather system may impact entergy mississippi service areas with severe thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains.

on july 10, entergy, along with the edison electric institute and the international brotherhood of electrical workers, will salute the nation’s electrical lineworkers by observing national lineworker appreciation day.
